NZ Region Writing Contest

Do you have a story to tell?  Most of us do. So, members, you are invited to submit an entry into this year’s New Zealand Region Writing Contest.

What to do:

Start jotting down those ideas; you’ll be surprised how easy it is and how fast your thoughts will flow.  Keep pen and paper or your favourite voice recorder handy at all times to capture those mental images that you are thinking about.

I heard someone say that everybody is a writer.  If you can speak, you can write, it’s just another communication skill.

What you need to know:

There are three categories.  A contestant may enter any and all categories.  Only one entry per person per category is permitted.

Fiction:  prose – a short story

Non-fiction:  a feature article; structured expository prose on a topic, an issue or event

Both fiction and non-fiction – no fewer than 500 words and no more than 1,500 words

Poetry:  metrical and free verse

No fewer than 3 lines and no more than 32 lines

Deadline:  entries to be postmarked no later than 1st March, 2014
